Melissa Nellis
Melissa Nellis has been involved in Belvidere North’s journalism program throughout all four years of her high school career. As a freshman, she participated in North’s Introduction to Journalism class. As a sophomore, Melissa was a reporter for Features and Center Focus as well as the Assistant Copy Editor. She was awarded Writer of the year for the 2009-2010 school year. She also competed in features reporting at the Journalism Sectionals held at Northern Illinois University. As a junior, Melissa was appointed the Copy Editor and inducted into Quill and Scroll National Honor Society. As a senior, Melissa took on dual-editor positions as the Copy Editor and the Online Editor in Chief- a new position to North’s journalism program. Currently, Melissa is working on the launch of the online edition of The North View, thenorthview.com. She hopes to have the site up and running by April.
